Austin Style Recycling

Austin estate sale shoppers are creative and talented folk. We’re constantly amazed , inspired and blown away by how estate sale finds are reclaimed. A recent Austin estate sale Simplify Life conducted contained a Texas size cache of arts and crafts. Bring on the creatives… and a shopper who recommended an ideal place for donations and inspiration.

Austin Creative Reuse is one of the finest success stories in recycling here in Austin.  A trip to the ARC store reveals a vision come to life. On my visit, I am greeted by the lovely DeAndra who enthusiastically entertains my curiosity.  She explains how this non-profit evolved from an idea developed by a group of artsy/crafty ladies had back in 2015. ARC is all about “fostering conservation and reuse through creativity , education and community building.”

The space is busy with shoppers and volunteers who are clearly, “ here on a mission.”  My inner reclamation artist feels an art attack coming on as I consider the multitude of possibilities displayed before me. Materials and supplies for most every arts and crafts endeavor exists right here. There is a “reuse and rethink challenge of the month” for inspiration . Shoppers can fill 5 gallon buckets on select items and other items are “as marked.” It’s a well organized array of bargains sure to kick start your very own creative campaign.

I love that this can be a resource for my client’s donations and yours too. Donations are accepted during store hours. ARC kindly asks that you check their list of items accepted and please call ahead to schedule large donations of more than 4 boxes/bags.

There is a decidedly wonderful Austin vibe at work here and volunteers are welcomed.  ARC also has resources for teachers and children’s programs. Check out Austin Creative Reuse here and see what sparks your creative fancy. https://www.austincreativereuse.org/
